Our experience:One of the girlfriends mentioned recently that she had seen a commercial for a new restaurant – Novo Dolce. She’s the coffee connoisseur, so an espresso bar is right up her alley. Plans were made and a lunch date was set.
Novo Dolce is located on Old Morgantown Road, not exactly restaurant row. Use a GPS or make note of the address or you just might pass right by it.The front patio is certain to be inviting, but unfortunately the day we visited was rainy and cold. We’ll have to go back and enjoy it once warmer weather comes.
The interior is warm and inviting with a mixture of seating options – booths, bar height tables and stools, and dining tables and chairs. Bright colors on the walls, paintings, and music playing in the background are all appreciated touches!
The customer service was top notch! After placing our order we were asked if we’d like to sample the gelato flavors. Um…yes! The flavors that day included tiramisu, pecan pie, and nutella. I passed on the tiramisu, but savored the samplings of the other two.
We both settled on Italian pizzas – rustic potato (above) and tomato Florentine (below). Generous in size, with 6 slices, the very thin crust allows one to easily eat 3 with room for dessert. It also allows for some sharing! We were very pleased with our choices! No regrets!
After savoring half of each of our pizzas, we headed back for a scoop of gelato. This was my first experience with gelato and it will definitely not be my last! The pecan pie had actual pieces of pie blended in and the tiramisu had pieces of tiramisu caked mixed in making for an authentic, decadent experience. Our single scoops were just $2 (a double is $3) and were just the right size. If you’re there just for the gelato, go for the 2 scoops – plus then you can get more than one flavor.
